Production Supervisor

Job Objective:
To schedule and supervise pet treat production to meet all orders in a timely manner and to maintain highest level of quality, efficiency, safety and sanitation within the pet treat production area.

Reporting Structure:

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:
  • Assure that all company goals are clearly communicated and understood to hourly team members
    • Safety Topics / Issues / Near Misses
    • Quality/Food Safety (FDA, BRC, organic, etc.)

  • Responsible that the entire operation adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s). Must enforce and implement GMP’s, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
  • Assist with the onboarding process for new employees
  • Facilitates and analyzes the resolution of employee related issues and concerns while avoiding conflict
  • Responsible to conduct Root Cause Analysis when applicable
  • Responsible to conduct timely accident investigations and report findings in accordance to company policies
  • Conduct reviews of production department
  • Clearly communicate production work schedules and needs
  • Supervise packaging area to maintain all quality standards and continually look for ways to improve process
  • Supervise production area to maintain safety standards to provide a safe accident free work environment
  • Schedule line personnel to meet scheduled volume and provide training to maintain a quality, dedicated work force
  • Attend all meetings and training required in order to continually maintain awareness of product safety needs and methods to meet those goals.
  • Recommend and approve required departmental maintenance and improvements.

Safety:

  • Ensure all employees receive documented training on required safety topics and additional training as necessary
  • Follow and enforce all safety instructions and policies
  • Report any injuries or near miss accidents to Plant Manager
  • Report any unsafe acts or conditions to Plant Manager
  • Wear required PPE, including hard hat and hearing protection, and ensure all employees do the same

Environmental:

  • Ensure work areas are clean and free of debris

Food Safety:

  • Attend food safety trainings
  • Follow and enforce all GMPs and food safety instructions
  • Report food safety non-conformances to the Quality Department
  • Develop and monitor all sanitation schedules throughout department

Maintenance & Reliability Foreman

At Tuffy’s Treat Company, the Maintenance & Reliability Foreman is a reliability focused position aimed at maximizing overall equipment effectiveness through the application of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) fundamentals.

As a multi-skilled, cross-functional team member, you will ensure safe and reliable operation of facility and production assets in a fast paced, high output work environment, while prioritizing multiple mechanical/electrical and administrative tasks.

The Maintenance & Reliability Foreman is also responsible for training and assisting Maintenance and Reliability Technicians and Operators on technical, autonomous maintenance and administrative skills. You are also the main escalation point on shift to ensure issues are resolved efficiently and work is completed effectively.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Perform various testing (ultrasonic, vibration, thermography, etc.) and recording of data on rotating, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic control devices, safety systems, piping, vessels and other associated equipment and systems.
  • Coordinate and prioritize the planned bi-weekly maintenance schedule and daily line-up ensuring human (internal and external) and technical resources are effectively utilized.
  • Actively lead equipment effectiveness (TPM), workplace organization (6S) and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
  • Manage and handle MRO inventory receiving and shipping of materials to vendors and or contractors as needed.
  • Maintain spare part and shop inventory through consistent and effective use of the maintenance, repair and operating supplies (MRO) processes and system.
  • Consistently and effectively utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure asset performance and work history is accurately captured.
  • Audit PMs and planned corrective work orders, giving constructive feedback and coaching to ensure technicians are performing work safely, efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist production with line-setups, product change overs and autonomous maintenance activities including ongoing mentoring and training of operating employees.
  • Work effectively with the maintenance and reliability planner and manager to improve work procedures, PM’s, and work efficiencies.
  • Lead failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement (CI) activities to ensure the highest levels of asset and process reliability, availability and quality.
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Five (5) plus years of experience with installation, startup, commissioning, calibration, corrective and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment.
  • Two (2) plus year degree or higher in electrical or mechanical technology.
  • Strong people management experience, including ability to lead and develop others.
  • Experience and proficiency in storing, retrieving, and analyzing data in a CMMS system.
  • Experience working with preventative, predictive and regulatory maintenance methodologies.
  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints and drawings.
Electrical Experience and Proficiency:
  • Programing, troubleshooting and maintaining PLCs.
  • Testing, calibrating and maintaining instrumentation, components and controls.
  • Single and 3-phase electrical repair and troubleshooting up to 480 Volts.
Mechanical Experience and Proficiency:
  • Troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatics systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues and making repairs on bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes and conveyors.
  • Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps.
  • Experience with fabrication and welding.
Preferred Qualifications (Above Plus the Following):
  • Three (3) plus years of leadership experience in the reliability field with strong knowledge of reliability best practices and methodologies. Reliability Centered Maintenance and/or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) experience is a plus.
  • Extensive experience and technical knowledge of diverse industrial mechanical and electrical systems including automation, controls and robotic systems.
  • One (1) plus years of managing MRO inventory and handling procurement duties.
  • Experience working with building and infrastructure systems including HV/AC, compressors, chillers, pumps, boilers, infeed/waste water, and other facility facing equipment.
  • 2nd Class B Boilers License.
  • Master Electrician, Licensed Journeyman or Registered Unlicensed Electrician.

  • Ensure work requests encompassing a change to form, fit or function are handled via the management of change process.
  • In collaboration with the Maintenance and Reliability Foreman and Production Supervisor, effectively manage the Total and Ready work backlogs ensuring work is properly prioritized and progresses efficiently so that work remains current and not deferred.
  • Review all completed work orders and invoices, reactive or proactive, for completeness and accuracy prior to close out in the CMMS.
  • Upload and maintain the asset hierarchy, bill of materials, critical spares, asset management strategies, and internal/external labor resources.
  • Generate daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual maintenance reliability reports ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Own and respond with subject matter expertise to maintenance/equipment related questions, maintain access to and distribution of OEM technical bulletin updates, and facilitate strong communication with OEM vendors.
  • Continually improve asset reliability and workforce efficiency by incorporating asset performance, job feedback and work history information in future and repeatable planned job procedures.
  • Participate in failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement (CI) activities to ensure the highest levels of asset and process reliability, availability and quality.

Minimum Qualifications:
