Building a Career is much different from accepting a job. When you join our KLN Team you are taking your first step to a better life. Here’s our Sweet 16 reasons of why this is true:

  • Our starting wages for entry level positions exceed local and regional standards and we pay more for night shift. Wages for unique skills also meet or exceed the market.
  • You simply can’t believe our profit sharing program; profit sharing checks are paid out every quarter we are profitable, a real boost for our staff. Producing the finest quality products is the work of many individuals doing their best…every day. When that kind of team effort produces profits for the company, we believe the reward should be shared. It’s the KLN Way.
  • So much discussion about health insurance…at KLN we do more than talk, we wrap you in a plan that protects you and your family. If you meet 5 bio-markers, single insurance premium costs nothing but the “real” value to you is approximately $3.25/hour. Wow!
  • While our insurance is second to none, we now have an on-site clinic for you and your dependents. When you use our Primary Care Clinic you pay nothing for the office call and zero for over 300 medications if you have our health insurance. No waiting, just walk in and get well!
  • You will have access to short and long term disability, vision and dental plans, life insurance and flex spending…the hits keep rolling.
  • We want you to be healthy, it’s great for you and let’s be honest…it’s pretty nice for the company too. Because a healthy employee is happy, focused and productive we offer a Wellness Coordinator and Employee Assistance Program to help you with life’s challenges. Monthly Wellness Talks focus on healthy eating and lifestyle.
  • Since your health is obviously important we also encourage you to be active. Therefore, we’ll pay your first $50.00 for a single PACC membership, $75 per couple and $100 per family, plus the cost of a 24/7 key. Because we’re serious if you are, we’ll then refund a portion of your monthly membership if you use the facility 8 times per month. Hmmm, let’s see; I get paid to work and work out? Nice!
  • If you are beginning your first “real” job you may not value health insurance and perhaps haven’t even begun thinking about retirement. No worry, we’re taking care of that for you and will match half up to 6% of investment into a 401K opportunity. One day you'll say, “Gee, that was really smart!”
  • Vacation begins to accrue the day you start with us; oh, 7 paid holidays too!
  • Did you know that if you’ve been with KLN Family Brands for 3 years you qualify for our Housing Program? Yes, we offer a $10,000 Home Grant Program if you buy a home in the Perham School District. Now, why would a company do that? First, we know that time on the road is time away from your family. Second, we also know that our greater community needs good people like you to be a part of our collective future.
  • You might be reading this and saying to yourself, “but I’m just starting and need some housing help now, not in 3 years”. Not to worry, we have that covered too. Ask us about our new 1st year housing incentive, moving expense plan and our Nelson Revolving No-Interest Loan to help you settle in. In a related program, we encourage you with a cash incentive when you refer other great team members…just like you!
  • Career Advancement is real at KLN Family Brands, many of our employees began at entry level, through their own hard work they have become managers, operators, supervisors, and leaders in our business. If you have the desire, we have the tools to help you achieve your dreams. Ask us about our student internship programs too.
  • Did you happen to notice that our name is KLN Family Brands? The word Family is really important to us, that’s why we provide college scholarships for your children and include them in our Primary Care Clinic services. In a neat spin-off, our company’s donation program also helps fund local schools, summer activity programs, Boys and Girls Club, School Back Pack Program, and major children’s health initiatives with Mayo Clinic and Pinky Swear.
  • One of the programs that people really enjoy is our Company Store where you get great deals on our products. So, whether you’re having a Super Bowl party and need snacks or “Max” is running short of our Tuffy’s premium label pet food…you get great deals.
  • Having a say in how things are done is important to anyone who’s ever laced up their boots and gone to work. At KLN we have learned over the years that when people are engaged in the success of the company they share their opinions and knowledge. KLN is at a better place because of that free exchange of ideas. It all goes back to our Team concept. Yes, we all have our job to do, but that doesn’t mean great ideas go unheard. Few companies could match the open door-open mind policy of KLN, the doors really are open and because of that, communication flows.
  • They say it’s the little things that often make a big difference. When you become a part of our team you enjoy these perks: shoe allowance, clothing incentive, employee appreciation meals, “years of service” gifts, safety incentives, birthday coupons, holiday turkeys, Holiday Club, direct deposit, and flu shots. Yep, KLN Cares!

Whether you are reading this for the first time or if you’ve been with the company for 30+ years, it is important that you are aware of these programs and use them to your advantage. Thank you for your commitment to KLN Family Brands…Tuffy’s Pet Foods and Kenny’s Candy & Confections. On the world stage we may not be the biggest player, but rest assured we produce the best quality, employ the best people and give our best daily effort.
